He was the son of British heavyweight champion David 'The Bomber' Pearce.

He died a few months after a statue was unveiled to his father.

Following the service, a burial will take place at St Woolos Cemetery at 3.30pm.

Refreshments will follow at The Usk Vale, Malpas, Newport.

His mum, Christine Powell, has led the tributes to her son, describing him, as her "best friend."

Mr Powell-Pearce's family have requested that those attending wear "a splash of colour."

Miss Powell said: "David loved his neon and psychedelic colours.

"He was unique. He would wear neon green or fluorescent yellow shoelaces.

"I would like people to be dressed smartly, but with a splash of colour. If people could wear a bright tie or neckerchief it would be nice."

Mr Powell-Pearce's family have also requested family flowers only, but have said that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MIND.

This can be done through Tovey Bros Funeral Directors, or through a donation box at the church.
