A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in a house fire today.
The blaze broke out in Genever Close, Chingford at around 1.10pm.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed it is investigating a "suspicious death" while another person caught in the fire was being treated at hospital.
The spokesman: "Police are dealing with a suspicious death in Waltham Forest.
"Officers were called at 1.12pm on Tuesday, February 19 to a residential address in Genever Close, Chingford.
"London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service had been called to a fire and found a man deceased inside the house.
"A woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. A crime scene is in place."
There are currently six police vehicles at the scene including two police vans.
Police tape is blocking off the road across Genever Close with officers stationed outside a gated home at the end of the road.
Teams of CID officers are at the scene.
