Emergency services were called out to a car which collided into nearside barriers at a junction road this morning.
The incident involved a single vehicle with a 48-year-old female driver who crashed on Station Road at its junction with Old Station Road, Loughton.
Firefighters almost had to remove the roof of the vehichle to retrieve the woman as her door was stuck before eventually unlocking the drivers door.
Brentwood and Epping Policing Community Team said: “The driver's initial account to officers on scene was that she had swerved to avoid a cat running across the road and we have no evidence to contradicted this.
“She has been taken to hospital for precautionary checks but on scene her injuries were assessed as minor.”
The road shortly reopened before midday but police are still on the scene for a recovery team to remove the damaged vehicle.
