Google's mobile training hub is coming to east London today (Friday).

The Google Digital Garage bus, which is coming to Walthamstow town centre today, provides free digital skills training and personal coaching sessions.

It was launched three years ago and has visited more than 500 locations and trained more than 300,000 people.

The bespoke training courses offered on the bus include: CV building, social media strategy, knowing your business with data and building a digital marketing plan.

In London today, 11 per cent of the working population do not have basic digital skills.

While London is currently ranked as the second most-connected tech ecosystem in the world, the long-term upskilling of workers requires focus.

Despite the rising population, the number of cases where employers have been unable to fill a vacancy due to skills shortages has more than doubled since 2011, rising from 14,000 to 37,000.

Google UK managing director Ronan Harris said: "We’re thrilled to bring the Google Digital Garage and continue to offer free digital skills training to Londoners and businesses right here in the capital, and specifically those in Walthamstow. We firmly believe everyone should be able to benefit from the opportunities that technology brings and we want to give people the skills they need to grow their confidence, career or business."

The bus will be parked next to the NatWest bank in Walthamstow town centre today (February 22) from 11am to 5pm.

Visitors are invited to simply drop by for on-the-spot help. For more information, visit: g.co/digitalgaragebus.
