Police investigating the murder of a man in in a hit and run have named the victim.

Constantin Sin, 51, who is from Romania, was killed when a car hit two pedestrians in High Road, Leytonstone, at 12.40am on Sunday, May 5.

Officers, the London Ambulance and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Mr Sin and a second man, aged 32, were taken to hospitals in east London.

Constantin who was in a critical condition, sadly died in hospital at 5.18pm that evening.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination that took place on Thursday, 9 May at Walthamstow mortuary found the cause of death to be multiple injuries.

A 56-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Friday, May 10) on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been taken to a police station for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wrigley, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation. He said: “The investigation into Mr Sin’s murder continues apace with a number of live enquiries in hand. At this early stage, it is appears that this was a deliberate act by the driver of the car. There had been an altercation in the street prior to this incident and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet come forward, to contact detectives without delay.”

The other victim is still in hospital with serious injuries that are not life threatening.
