A SUPERMARKET giant is set to bring the power of renewable energy to its a brand new Prestatyn store next month.
Following a £600,000 investment, the Co-op will cut the ribbon on its new Victoria Road store on Friday, July 5 at 9am.
The new food store - which will create 15 jobs in the town and has been built on land adjacent to the former Magistrates Court - is about 2,500 sq ft and will run 100 per cent on electricity from renewable sources including solar, hydro and wind.
Katie McFaul, Co-op Store manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Prestatyn, we have been having a great response, and we are looking forward to serving the community – our ambition is to establish the store at the heart of community life.
“It’s a great way for us to mark the 175th anniversary year of the Co-op.”
The store, open from 6am until 11pm will also boast an in-store bakery.
A branch of Greggs is also expected to open on the same site later this year.
