Pupils and staff from two schools have come together to celebrate 70 years since both schools' opening.

Little Green Junior School and Malvern Way Infant and Nursery School in Watford have come together to celebrate their 70th anniversaries from June 10 to June 14.

Both schools opened in 1949 and the staff decided to build on their strong relationship and carried out a week of joint celebrations.

Year groups from both schools were paired up with each other to take part in joint learning experiences. Pupils enjoyed various activities including story writing, creating gifts for each other, baking and a large picnic at Little Green School.

Watford Observer:

Little Green Junior School headteacher Mr Duncan Roberts said: “We are committed to recognising our role in supporting and building a community. Our work with our family school benefits everyone.”

Previous students were also invited back to the schools to share their memories even from pupils who attended back in 1949.

Malvern Way hosted an open afternoon for past staff, governors and community members and were entertainment by the children performing an outside school celebratory dance.

Watford Observer:

Malvern Way Infant and Nursery school Deputy Headteacher Mrs Holly Butcher said: “The children were so excited to perform the dance that they had worked so hard on.

“Seeing every child from our school dancing together was a truly unforgettable experience. Just magical.”
