An open-air theatre is returning to Epping Forest to perform timeless classics this summer.
Performing arts and travelling theatre company Illyria will stage “The Tempest” and “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” on the backdrop of The Temple in Wanstead Park.
Illyria has won four international "Best Performance" awards and attracted numerous "five-star" and "Critics' Choice" reviews for the lively clarity acts.
Graeme Doshi-Smith, chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Epping Forest and Commons Committee, said: “We are delighted to welcome Illyria back to Wanstead Park.
“Their performances are always joyful and entertaining, and their return signals summer is really underway at the site.
“I hope after seeing the plays people will inspired to visit this wonderful park and the magnificent ancient woodland of Epping Forest.”
Epping Forest is London and Essex’s largest open space, attracting nearly five million visits a year.
Performance times for The Tempest is Friday, August 9, from 7pm to 9.30pm and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves is
Wednesday, August 29 from 4pm to 6.30pm.
