Residents who are interested in purchasing a former pub have until tomorrow to submit their interest.

The Nags Head Public House in on Church Road, Moreton, Ongar, is registered as a community asset under section 95(2) of the Localism Act 2011.

Former plans to construct seven new homes and an overflow car park was unanimously opposed by Moreton, Bobbingworth and The Lavers Parish Council back in March.

Councillors raised concerns over the popular route used by schoolchildren, which has no pavements, streetlights and a lack of sufficient additional parking spaces.

Greene King Retailing Limited, freehold owners of the Nags Head Public House & Car Park wrote to Epping Forest District Council on Friday, June 7.

They have notified their intention to enter into relevant disposal of the Nags Head in accordance with section 95(2) of the Localism Act 2011.

The local community has until Friday, July 19, to express interest in writing to Epping Forest District Council that “they wish to be treated as a potential bidder for the land”.
