A man wanted over immigration conviction was arrested in a police raid.

Officers from Fairlop, Fullwell and Clayhall Safer Neighbourhood Team helped immigration officers from Belfast looking for a wanted man who had been sentenced to 14 months in prison in his absence for assisting with illegal entry into the UK.

The man was arrested during a raid in Forest Road, Hainault on Tuesday, July 29.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm after a weapon was found. Scene of crime officers attended and the firearm was made safe and removed from the property.

An extensive search revealed large quantities of a white unknown powder, believed to be a Class A controlled drug. Other controlled drugs — steroids and cannabis — were also found.

The man was further arrested for possession with intent to supply.

The white powder and firearm were taken to laboratories for testing.
