A dentist raised more than £6,800 with a fundraising day inspired by a classic game show.

Woodford Green dental practice Improve Your Smile, recently organised an It's a Knockout Charity Fundraiser for Haven House Children's Hospice.

The dentist is a member of the Haven House 100 Club, in which more than 100 businesses have pledged to raise £1,000 for the charity this year.

Team Improve Your Smile went head-to-head against six other 100 Club members in the ultimate foamy battle on Sunday, July 28 at Mayhem Paintball's site in Abridge.

Other businesses competing over foam cannons, buckets of water, wacky races and inflatable obstacles included Enigma Beauty Salon, Whistle 'N' Flute, Laundry Lounge, Oven Clean Chigwell, Vantage VA, Catalyst Design and The Traveller's Friend pub.

Improve Your Smile marketing manager Amanda Green said: "The day was a great opportunity for all of our businesses to get to know each other better whilst having so much fun and most importantly raising lots of money for our wonderful local children's hospice Haven House. Improve Your Smile are proud to say we raised £2,200 and collectively we all raised a massive total of £6,800! There was so much camaraderie between all the businesses and we all look forward to doing it again for the hospice next year!

Amy Bramble, Community Fundraising Executive at Haven House, said: “We are delighted to see so many local businesses coming together and supporting their local children’s hospice. This really captures the essence of what the 100 Club is all about. We are extremely grateful to all those who took part and raised such a tremendous amount.

“With less than 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we’re really grateful for the generous support from businesses locally. Their support is vital in helping ensure that the excellent care the hospice delivers can continue in a time of need for so many families.”
