A man has appeared in court after being charged for a series of sexual assaults.

Abdallah Baballah, 23, of no fixed address, was charged on Saturday, 27 July following a mass manhunt by the Metropolitan Police.

He appeared at Thames Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 29.

Baballah is charged with two rapes, two attempted rapes and four counts of robbery which reportedly look place within 11 days across Waltham Forest and Newham.

The following charges include:

- One count of rape that occurred on Monday, 1 July in the Plaistow South area in Newham.

- One count of attempted rape near Leyton Underground on Saturday, 6 July.

- One count of rape on Saturday, 6 July at Amethyst Road, Waltham Forest.

- One count of attempted rape on Thursday, 11 July in the Central Park Road area of East Ham.

- Four counts of robbery in relation to all four incidents.

Police had previously warned women in London walking alone at night to “remain vigilant” and inform family and friends of their whereabouts.

Investigators said that the two women who had been raped had disembarked from night buses shortly before being assaulted, in the early hours of the morning.

The alleged victims had been on their way home from work in central London bar.

Investigations continue.
