A new appeal has been launched to undercover information following a fatal shooting of a man nearly 18 months on from his murder.

Abraham Badru, a 26-year-old personal trainer, died on Sunday, 25 March 2018, in Ferncliff Road, Hackney, after being shot as he opened the boot of his car.

An 18-year-old woman [A] was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in November 2018 but has since been released under investigation.

On Monday, September 9, homicide detectives from Specialist Crime interviewed a 20-year-old man under caution within a London prison.

Active enquiries are ongoing, and a £20,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for Mr Badru’s murder is still on offer.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, is leading the investigation, he said: "My team are totally committed to getting justice for Abraham and his family.

“Despite a wall of silence which has tried to stifle my investigation, we are making progress and today’s interview of this prisoner is just one example.

“We are determined to find out why Abraham was targeted and gunned down in such a brutal way and bring the perpetrators to justice. We have now recovered his laptop and I believe this could be significant.

“We have made several appeals but we know that a number of people who know something have chosen not to come forward.

“Whilst we are developing a line of investigation connected to one of several relationships he had, there is always the possibility that this may have been a case of mistaken identity and that Abraham was killed in error.”

On the night of the murder shortly after 11pm, a man and a woman in Ferncliff Road were seen walking by very close to the scene of the shooting.

The woman was white and wearing a three-quarter length Puffa-style coat.

The man was also white and wearing shorts and was seen a short time after the woman.

"I am also really keen to speak to the person who called the police incident room in June 2018,” added DCI McHugh. “The caller was ringing on behalf of a friend who I believe holds really important information and could have seen something vital at the time of, or immediately after, Abraham's murder. If you're that person please call us back.”

On the day of the murder, Mr Badru had been shopping, collecting a takeaway and seeing his father.

Between 10:20pm and 10:40pm, he visited a woman before travelling home.

During the journey home he had a phone call with another woman lasting 44 minutes when at11:11pm he was fatally shot while still on the phone.

Police were called to the scene following reports of gunshots heard where sadly Mr Badru died at the scene from a shotgun wound to the chest.

Moments after the shooting, a black male believed to be wearing a black Puffa-type jacket with a rucksack ran from the scene, before getting on a bicycle described as white with no lights.
