Your correspondent Mr McGough (Guardian, September 19) reminded us that deputy Speakers in the Commons do not vote.
Not voting is a convention.
As the Speaker himself seems so keen to overturn convention whenever it suits the Remain majority of MPs, could not our avowedly Brexit MP do likewise and vote for the referendum result.
