High street retail store Next have submitted a revised planning proposal to build a brand-new regional service centre and photo studio.

The application for the new facilities is due to be submitted to the district council with plans to build on land north of Dowding Way, Waltham Abbey.

High-quality building materials and a green corridor and walls are proposed in the latest building design to help improve natural landscaping and support biodiversity.

The UK fashion and homeware giant previously submitted an application in 2018 but was declined following feedback from councillors, stakeholders and residents.

A spokesperson for Next commented: “We have really valued the level of feedback from the community since we presented the initial plans in 2018 and are delighted to be bringing forward the new scheme which now incorporates a Next Photo Studio.”

“Alongside the significant investment and creation of new jobs at the new Regional Service Centre, we believe this is an exciting opportunity to offer a wider range of highly-skilled employment and training opportunities in Epping Forest.”

“We look forward to showcasing the plans at our information days in October and understanding the views of local residents, community groups and councillors.”

Next proposed to build their photo studio and service centre on Dowding Way, Waltham Abbey.

An overall investment of £53 million is expected to be generated in Waltham Abbey and around 111 jobs created in the photo studio alone.

The Next Studio will also offer studio manager and photography roles, including graduate and trainee scheme, available to residents and within the wider district.

Epping Forest District Council will be carrying out their own statutory consultation with the community in due course.

A community newsletter is being distributed residential and business properties in Waltham Abbey to provide an update on the revised planning application.

Anyone who submitted formal comments on the original scheme (EPF/1413/18) will have to comment again on the new application in order for it to be registered.

Public information days are scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16, at Waltham Abbey Town Hall, Highbridge Street, from 4pm to 8pm on both days.
