Human remains found in woodland could be murdered student midwife Joy Morgan who was last seen in Boxing Day 2018.

Officers were called by a member of the public to Chadwell Road, Norton Green, Stevenage on Saturday, October 5.

The 20-year-old student from Hatfield, who was studying at the University of Hertfordshire, was last seen at a church event in Ilford on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

She was reported missing on Thursday, February 7 after failing to return to her studies.

A police spokesman said it was "too early to say" if it was Ms Morgan, but it was "a line of inquiry".

A post-mortem examination is due to take place today (Tuesday, October 8) and identification is expected by the end of the week, police said.

Ms Morgan's family have been informed.

Shohfah-El Israel, 40, of Fordwych Road, north-west London, a fellow worshipper at the Israel United In Christ church, was found guilty of her murder at Reading Crown Court in August.

Israel has refused to reveal the location of where Ms Morgan’s remains are.
