An intergenerational meeting of creative minds resulted in a day of spooky poetry.

Seven year four pupils from Snaresbrook Primary School joined experienced poets at the Allan Burgess Centre in Wanstead on October 2 for a day of poetry.

The young poets explored the theme ‘Halloween’ and as it was Older People’s Week, they were joined by several senior poets.

Juliette Sells, a teacher at Snaresbrook Primary, commented on how enthusiastic the children, and said they were clearly encouraged to use their imaginations.

The Redbridge Rhymesters Poetry Group was founded over 11 years ago and for the past three years Snaresbrook Primary School pupils have attended poetry sessions led by Alexandra Wilde.

The school has adopted AgeUK Redbridge – which runs the Allan Burgess Centre – as its chosen charity.

Ms Sells said the poetry sessions were a great opportunity for the children to meet some of the people who use the Allan Burgess Activity Centre to see where the money raised is going, and the people it helps.
