How many people remember Bishop's Food Store in South Chingford?
Here is a photo of the shop, on the corner of New Road and Old Church Road, from 1975. (Image courtesy of Vestry House Museum picture archive.)
Zoomed in, the shop advertises itself as 'your very good neighbour' and boasted prices as low as 15p, 38p, 13p and 9p.
The building is still standing today and houses an Iceland and a Superdrug.
These columns once stood at the entrance to Wanstead Park.
The photo, courtesy of Wanstead Historical Society, describes them as Blake Hall Gates Entrance Columns and shows them before they were damaged in the Second World War.
Here they are today, at the junction of Blake Hall Road and Overton Drive, Wanstead.
