A group of secondary school pupils will be charge of running a museum for a day in honour of national Takeover Day.

For the past two months, Year 8 students from King Harold Business & Enterprise Academy in Waltham Abbey have been preparing to oversee the running of Epping Forest District Museum.

The schoolkids will be giving free tours around the museum as well as running short activities for visitors throughout the day on Wednesday, November 20.

Takeover Day is a national celebration (created by Kids in Museums) allowing young people work alongside staff in museums, galleries, arts organisations, archives and heritage sites.

Students from the Waltham Abbey school will theme to the district museum’s current Ice Age exhibition, where they will compare this natural occurrence of with climate change.

King Harold Business & Enterprise Academy’s Takeover Day will take place at Epping Forest District Museum on Sun Street, Waltham Abbey on Wednesday, November 20 from 11am-3pm.
