A 24-year-old man has been stabbed to death Redbridge – the second fatal stabbing the borough less than a week.

Officers were called to Telegraph Mews in Seven Kings at 6.10am on Sunday, November 24 after reports of a group fighting during a party at a disused commercial premises, police said.

No victims were found but shortly afterwards police were called to Ilford Lane, Ilford, where a 24-year-old man was discovered with stab injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he died on Sunday afternoon. His next of kin have been told.

It is the second fatal stabbing in Redbridge in five days, after Mohammed Usman Mirza, 19, was knifed repeatedly in a fight in Fullwell Avenue, Ilford, at 10.20pm on Tuesday, November 19.

Redbridge Council leader Jas Athwal tweeted on Sunday afternoon: "Distressing news emerging of another young life lost to knife crime in Seven Kings.

"Desperately need an early intervention program at regional & national level to deal with this type of crime which is destroying young lives/families & spreading fear and anxiety in our communities."

Another man in his 20s was taken to hospital with stab wounds just after 6.30am on Sunday.

Both the man who died and the man injured are believed to have been assaulted during the incident in Telegraph Mews, police said.

Scotland Yard said the injured man's condition was not life-threatening.

Detective inspector Michael Dougall said: "We believe a party was held at a disused commercial premises at Telegraph Mews, Seven Kings, Ilford, where a large number of people were present.

"Officers from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and the family of the man who died are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

"I urge anyone who was present at the scene and who may have witnessed the incident or has heard any information, to please contact the police, or Crimestoppers anonymously.

"I would like to thank the community for their patience whilst police are examining crime scenes to secure and preserve evidence."
