A Wanstead care home has won a regional award for its end of life care.

Cambridge Nursing Home in Cambridge Park, Wanstead, was awarded the Palliative Care Award at The Great British Care Awards, London.

Lilette Ebrahimkhan, director of the home, accepted the award on behalf of all the team at Cambridge Nursing Home who became Gold Standards Framework accredited in 2017.

Judges said of the care home: "The hardest part of supporting someone who is dying is the knowledge this is going to happen. It takes special qualities in someone to be able to do this.”

“Lilette and team openly talk and share have a memory tree and a yearly celebration of life, to which family are invited.”

Cambridge Nursing Home will now go through to the national finals at Birmingham’s ICC on March 20, 2020.

The Great British Care Awards, London are part of the Great British Care Awards, a series of 10 regional awards celebrating excellence across the care sector paying tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
