Brent is set for another election after a date was set to replace two councillors who stood down at the end of November.

Those living in Barnhill ward will go the polls on January 23 to elect replacements for Michael Pavey and Sarah Marquis.

A spokesman for Brent Council announced that a notice of election will be published on December 13, with nominations open from December 16 to December 24.

He added that “further information will be available after the General Election” on December 12.

Mr Pavey resigned on November 27, after seven years of service, for personal reasons.

A spokesman for Brent Labour said: “We are saddened to hear of Mikey’s difficult decision to stand down as a representative for Barnhill ward.

“He has been a longstanding and respected member of the Labour Group and we wish him the very best with the next chapter of his life.”

He was joined two days later by Ms Marquis, who also cited personal reasons as the reason for her resignation.

She had served as a councillor in Barnhill since May 2014 and her roles included chairman of the planning committee.
