A patio door was smashed during a burglary at a house in Watford.

Police are investigating a break-in in Hillingdon Road, which happened on Wednesday December 4.

It happened between 10am and 7.30pm.

When the victim returned home, she saw that her house had been trashed before realising jewellery, cash, a wallet, and other items had been stolen.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Yesterday, Hertfordshire Constabulary appealed for information on a break-in in nearby Briar Road, which also happened on December 4, any time between 1.45pm and 6.30pm.

Several items in the house were stolen, including two Samsung mobile phones, bank documents, various pieces of jewellery, an unknown amount of cash and a European Health Insurance card.

Detective Constable Jonathan Holmes is investigating both burglaries - although it is unknown whether police are linking them at this stage.

Speaking about the burglary in Hillingdon Road, DC Holmes said: "This has understandably left the victim shaken up, as well as leaving her out of pocket. We are currently conducting extensive enquiries to identify the suspect(s).

"If you were in the area throughout the day, and think you may have witnessed suspicious behaviour or seen the incident taking place, please get in touch with us.

"Alternatively, if you were driving down that road between the hours specified, and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, please review your footage and send us anything you think could be useful to our investigation."
