Government statistics reveals which areas in Hertfordshire are the eco-friendliest with the most electric vehicle drivers.

Transport accounts for 23 per cent of the UK’s CO2 emissions according to the 2019 report to Parliament from the Committee on Climate Change.

With climate change being a growing concern, climate activists and others who care for the environment may feel more inclined to purchase an electric vehicle

Data produced by the Department for Transport has shown that Watford has the highest number of electric vehicle drivers in Hertfordshire.

As a result, the government have been encouraging that more people purchase electric vehicles, and it seems that from 2015 to 2019, there has been a huge growth in the electric vehicle market.

The data collected from the Department for Transport showed the recorded amount of electric vehicle drivers in September 2019, which proved that Watford had the most drivers.

However how well did other areas in Hertfordshire do?

Watford Borough Council has seen a massive rise in electric vehicle drivers in recent years. In 2015, there were 427 drivers, compared to the 1,353 drivers in 2019.

2) St Albans

St Albans has significantly fewer electric drivers than Watford with just 648 drivers in 2019 and 142 in 2015.

Although North Hertfordshire has 483 drivers in 2019, North Hertfordshire had more drivers than Hertsmere with 105 drivers.

7) Three Rivers

In 2015, Three Rivers also had more electric drivers than Hertsmere, but less than North Hertfordshire with 98 drivers. However, Three Rivers now has the least number of electric drivers in Hertfordshire in 2019 with just 431 drivers.
