A woman who celebrated her one hundredth birthday said that no smoking, drinking and swearing are the key reasons for achieving living a long life.
Gladys Wise, who turned 100 on Thursday, January 9, had lived independently in Matching Tye before moving to Ashlar House Care Home in Epping last year.
Staff at Ashlar House Care Home made sure Gladys had a memorable birthday
The centenarian marked her milestone birthday with a celebratory tea and singer alongside her daughter, two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her great, great-granddaughter.

Mrs Wise was married to her husband Harold until he died 14 years ago aged 88 and had lived in the same house she had grew up in for 99 years.
She had been born at Carters Green before her family relocated to a house “just around the corner”.
Her Majesty the Queen had also sent a birthday card to Mrs Wise in time for the special occasion.
Epping Town Mayor councillor Grahame Scruton joined Gladys and her family for the birthday tea special tea and the cutting of her birthday cake.
