A nursery which was rated ‘inadequate’ in October last year has been upgraded to ‘good’ following a recent inspection.

Giggle Tots Day Nursery, in Wallwood Road, Leytonstone, was rated ‘good’ – the second-best grade – by Ofsted following an inspection on December 13, 2019.

In a report published on January 6, Ofsted inspector Caroline Preston said children at the nursery were “happy” and eager to learn.

Staff were praised for having high expectations of children and for their high quality teaching.

In the report, Ms Preston wrote: “Staff listen to children attentively and create an culture of good behaviour. Staff provide children with a good range of learning opportunities that help them make sense of the world.”

Natasha Blackwell, the nursery manager, said: "I am ecstatic now Ofsted can report on the true reflection of the childcare the staff deliver at Giggle Tots Leytonstone. It is always extremely challenging taking on a existing nursery. I strive on challenge, and very proud of what Leytonstone has achieved."

The Ofsted report praised the nursery for making “effective improvements” since the last inspection when it was rated the lowest possible grade, ‘inadequate’, in October 2019.

Ms Blackwell added: “I am extremely proud of my current staff for all their continuous hard work, dedication for riding out the transition and changes, and for all the families that have supported us through this tough time that knew our true potential.

“In addition, I’m proud of all my children that have excelled and developed while at Giggle Tots Leytonstone, we are a big happy nursery family.
