Supermarket chain Lidl is set to open their second store within the district later this summer.

The German convenient company is to open their new branch on Church Hill, Loughton, where the former Homebase store once stood.

The retail chain’s other store within Epping Forest is based on Cartersfield Road, Waltham Abbey.

This would outnumber rival discount German company Aldi, who has one store open in the district at Epping Forest Shopping Park, on Langston Road, Loughton.

Lidl currently has 760 stores in the UK, and they are looking to expand.

Details for when the store will officially open will be confirmed in due course.
