Thames Valley Police have confirmed that nothing was stolen, despite the damage to the ATM and to the shop's exit door.

Investigating officer, PC Lucy McDonagh, based at Banbury police station said: “A black vehicle with the partial plate of WR67 was seen leaving the scene.

"I am appealing for anyone who recognises the description of this vehicle to also come forward.

"I would ask anyone who has CCTV or dash-cam footage from the local area around the time of the incident to check it, in case it may have captured something that could assist with the investigation."

A shopper who visited the store shortly after it reopened on Monday afternoon said there was a strong smell of smoke inside.
