Arriva is looking for new drivers for its upcoming dial-a-ride service.

Starting from March 23, Watford will have a flexible dial-a-ride minibus service using ArrivaClick.

Seven private minibuses that can seat up to 15 people each will be operating around Watford as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly private cab alternative.

Now Arriva are looking for drivers to operate this service.

New drivers will recieve full training, before the service launches this March.

Using the ArrivaClick app, commuters can request the dial-a-ride minibus to reach their destinations around Watford.

Prices will range from £1 to £2.50 per mile, with weekly passes on offer too.

Buses will feature free Wi-Fi, charging points, tables, leather seats, pushchair space and a wheelchair ramp.

After the announcment in November 2019, Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Introducing new, greener ways to travel around the town is one of my top priorities.

“I am delighted to be announcing a demand responsive bus scheme for Watford and am confident that ArrivaClick will be a real success in our town, offering a great alternative to the car."

The contract will last four years, with the option of a two-year extension.

Adam Toone, the business development director, said: “We’re excited to launch the ArrivaClick service with Watford, who should be applauded for their forward-thinking approach to addressing connectivity issues.”

This is the fourth Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service which Arriva have introduced to the UK since 2017.

It will form part of Watford council’s wider strategy to improve sustainable transport options throughout the town, including its bike hire scheme.
