The company behind a popular pub in the centre of Walthamstow faces a fine after failing to control pests.

Stonegate Pub Company Ltd, who manage The Goose pub on Hoe Street, will be sentenced at Thames Magistrates’ Court on February 7.

They were convicted on December 12 last year of failing to “keep in place adequate measures to control pests”, breaking EU Hygiene Regulations, after a case was brought against them by Waltham Forest Council.

The pub’s last published food hygiene rating, after an inspection in January of last year, was four out of a possible five.

The company, whose lawyer insisted was taking the matter incredibly seriously, appeared in court on Tuesday (January 21) but a district judge chose to adjourn to a later date due to lack of time.

Stonegate Pub Company Ltd manages more than 690 bars and pubs nationwide.
