Runner and joggers are being encouraged to take part in St Clare Hospice’s annual 10k race this year.

Setting off from the Hastingwood-based hospice, participants will tackle the route along the countryside roads while raising crucial funds for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

This route is suitable for all abilities with 400 runners and wheelchair athletes taking part in the event's 25th anniversary in 2019, raising around £15,000.

Emma Broadbent, challenges and events fundraiser at St Clare Hospice, said: “With such a hugely successful event last year, we’re hoping to once again raise thousands for St Clare Hospice to help fund our care and support services.

“We encourage participants to create a fundraising page to collect sponsorship for running in the 10k, calling on friends, family, colleagues and other local people to support you.

“It’s with thanks to our local community that we’re able to provide our compassionate care for those who really need it – so thank you for your support.”

St Clare Hospice’s 10k race, sponsored by Tees, Mantle and Handelsbanken, will take place on Sunday, April 5, at 10.30am.

Participants must be aged 15+ to take part, entry is £12 for affiliated runners and £14 for non-affiliated runners. Deadline for advanced sign-ups is Monday, March 30.

If you wish to sign up on the day, it costs an extra £3 on top of the pre-race registration price. The registration desk will be open from 9am on the day.
