Nominations are wanted for who you would like to see win this year’s North Weald Bassett Parish Council's Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year awards.

Individuals or groups can be entered by anyone who lives or works within the Parish of North Weald Bassett, Thornwood Common and Hastingwood.

Winners in the past have been recognised for conducting outstanding acts of kindness, bravery or have been committed to organising and improving community relations.

Last year, a joint Citizen of the Year Award was given to long-standing treasurer of Thornwood Seniors Association, Mary West and treasurer of North Weald Village Hall Trustees, Roger Smith.

The Young Citizen of the Year award was presented to Jack Rush, an Explorer of 3rd North Weald Scout Group, described as "a great example for the young people of this village".

North Weald Bassett Parish Council officers, councillors and those who involved in political organisations are disqualified.

Service to religious bodies is applicable only if it involves substantial contribution to the wider community.

Nominees for the Young Citizen award must be aged 18 and under.

Anyone can be considered for a nomination for services covered in 2019, with completed forms to be returned to the Parish Office no later than Monday, March 2.

This year’s awards will be presented at the Annual Parish Assembly on Monday, March 23.

Nomination forms are available from North Weald Library or via the parish council’s website www.northweald-pc.gov.uk
