A MAN in his 60s has been air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Hadleigh.
Reports described a pedestrian laying in the road at the crossing by National Tyres, at London Road, in Hadleigh, around 2pm.
A spokesman for the ambulance service, said: "Two ambulances and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to a road traffic accident at London Road, Hadleigh, today shortly after 2pm.
"One man was transported by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital with serious injuries."
A Hadleigh resident, who could see the commotion from her flat window, said: "There is an air ambulance there and they have closed the road.
"I hope no one is seriously hurt.
"It seems quite serious."
The road is closed in both directions and a police cordon is in place.
Expect delays as traffic remains heavy following the road closure.
