Watford Under 23s got back to winning ways on Friday afternoon, with a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road.
Goals from Kane Crichlow, Domingos Quina and Jayden Bennetts ensured the young Hornets remain competitive at the top of the table following a disappointing 3-1 defeat in their last game away at Cardiff.
As well as Quina, Daniel Bachmann was given a starting place, as was Joao Pedro.
Crichlow opened the scoring within the opening quarter-of-an-hour after Bachmann had pulled off a superb early stop, before Quina doubled the lead with an emphatic finish.
Bennetts rounded off the win later on.
Following the match, academy manager Richard Thomas told the club website his team had performed better than they had throughout the rest of the campaign.
βIt was close to the best performance of the season. It was really good," he said.
"It just came together and we had some good players out there. When you get boys come down from the first team they should make a difference and they did that. They were really on their game, they took everything on board and they got their reward.β
