Coronavirus in east London / Essex: Redbridge Council sets up volunteer group

    A further 676 coronavirus cases were confirmed yesterday, the largest rise yet. There are now 2,626 confirmed cases across the UK.

  • As of 9am yesterday Public Health England had confirmed 103 deaths.

  • There are 953 confirmed cases in London and 27 in Essex.

  • In Waltham Forst there are 14 Covid-19 cases, in Redbridge 14, Barking and Dagenham 14 , and Newham 23.

  • Up to 40 stations on the London Underground network are to be shut. From Friday, the Waterloo and City line will shut completely and from Monday TfL said it would gradually reduce other parts of its network.

  • At yesterday's daily briefing, it was announced that all schools in the UK will be closed from Friday, March 2

  • Children of key workers and the most vulnerable, will still be provided with some form of daily schooling/care.

  • The London Assembly has cancelled its meetings with Mayor’s Question Time tomorrow the only public meeting planned until mid May.
