A coronavirus victim has told of her harrowing ordeal after contracting the deadly virus.
Loughton resident Jamie Baggett says she is now on the mend after catching Covid-19 earlier this month.
The 28-year-old initially thought she had a chest infection when she visited the doctors on March 10.
Her doctor did not diagnose her as suffering from Covid-19 and prescribed her antibiotics which she said made her feel better after a week.
Jamie, who suffers from asthma, went about with her usual life, however not long after about ten days she took a turn for the worse began to experience bad chest pain and a severe cough.
She was admitted to princess Alexander hospital last week where she was assessed and taken into a ward with safety precautions.
Jamie was isolated and given oxygen treatment, steroids and a dose of antibiotics to treat the virus. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia.
She was prescribed antibiotics for pneumonia and steroids to continue to medicate and isolate at home.
She said: “I am able to breath on my own. I am feeling better, but my cough is still present. I continue to be on the mend and isolate myself from others.
“I want to urge the public to know how serious this can get. I have not travelled anywhere. I don’t go out much, but I still contracted it somehow. I never thought it would happen to me.
“I am urging all people to do their best in protecting themselves at a very tough time like this. Please isolate yourself. It is the best option to protect you and your loved ones.”
