East London hospitals today confirmed almost 30 new deaths from coronavirus since the beginning of the month.
King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen’s Hospital in Romford saw 18 more coronavirus deaths confirmed, although seven of these patients died on April 2.
Barts Health NHS Trust, which manages Whipps Cross, Mile End, Royal London, St Bartholomew’s and Newham Hospitals, confirmed nine more coronavirus deaths today.
All nine of these patients died on Saturday.

This brings the total number of coronavirus deaths at Barts Health NHS Trust hospitals to 129 and the total number at King George Hospital and Queen’s Hospital to 54.
Barts Health was one of the first NHS trusts in the country to have a patient die of coronavirus, with the first death on March 6.
So far the worst day for both trusts has been March 29, when 16 patients died at Barts Health Trust hospitals and 13 at BHRUT hospitals.
There have been almost 5,000 deaths of coronavirus in the UK so far.
