NORTH Wales Police has thanked 'vigilant' members of the public who spotted a camper van coming into Gwynedd overnight despite coronavirus restrictions being put into place.

The people of Bangor had reported the vehicle to Police, who subsequently sent them back home to the West Midlands.

A spokesperson for NWP's Bangor and Bethesda team said: "Thank you to the public of Bangor for being vigilant. This camper van stayed over in Bangor overnight and was reported this morning.

"The occupants have been spoken to by police and have been sent back home, having been persuaded that travelling to the West Midlands to see their family was not essential travel.

"We will continue to be out on patrol 24/7 and do our utmost to keep everyone safe, but we can't be everywhere all of the time.

"Remember the virus doesn't move - people move the virus. Please play your part in this national effort - we're staying out here for you, please stay home for us."
