Nine new COVID-19 deaths have today been confirmed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The Harlow hospital, run by The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, has now recorded a total of 90 coronavirus deaths.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of COVID-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

The latest deaths at the Princess Alexandra occurred over a three-day period beginning April 6, with six deaths on April 7.

Across the UK a further 765 people, who tested positive have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 7,248.

Of the newly confirmed deaths, patients were aged between 24 and 103 years old.

Forty-three of the 765 patients (aged between 33 and 99 years old) had no known underlying health condition.
