NHS trusts in east London have now announced almost 300 deaths from coronavirus since the start of the pandemic last March.
Barts Health NHS Trust, which manages five hospitals including Whipps Cross, has confirmed 189 deaths since early March and confirmed 35 more today .
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), which manages King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen's Hospital in Romford, has confirmed 98 new deaths, after 21 more were announced today.
At Barts there were eight deaths on April 8 and another eight the day before.
By comparison, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has announced none so far from this week.
It could also see its death toll rise soon, as a senior intensive care consultant from Queen's Hospital said it was taking on cases from worse-affected trusts, due to the fact it is coping well.
