A street racing event involving more than 400 modified cars descended on Leyton on Saturday evening.
Police officers and Waltham Forest Council officers attended Argall Way after reports of "large number of vehicles racing and driving in an aggressive manner in a trading estate area".
A tweet from Parkguard Ltd, a contractor employed by councils and police, said enforcement was "required for a few driving and drug offences" but that the group was dispersed without major issues.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed there were no arrests as a result of the incident.
They said: "Police were called on Saturday evening to Argall Way, Leyton following reports of a large number of vehicles racing and driving in an aggressive manner in a trading estate area.
"Officers attended. Working with the Waltham Forest Council ASB team, they blocked the entrance to the estate so that no more cars could enter, and managed the flow of traffic so that vehicles could leave the area.
"After around an hour all those in attendance had left. There were no arrests."
Photos from the scene show long lines of cars stretching along the road, some with spoilers to reduce drag, and officers speaking to drivers or monitoring the situation.
