THERE have been two more deaths of coronavirus patients confirmed in Sussex.

One was recorded by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which is responsible for the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. There have now been 143 deaths at sites run by the trust.

The other death happened at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, where the total number of fatalities is now 82.

Figures for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (82) Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust (112), Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (253) and Sussex Community Foundation Trust (17) remained the same.

There have now been 608 deaths recorded by hospital trusts in Sussex since the outbreak of the illness.

Nationally, the daily deaths numbered 135. This takes the total number of deaths of coronavirus patients to 42,288, with 300,469 people having tested positive for the illness. Of these, 2,617 have been in Sussex.

There were seven further cases in West Sussex taking its total to 1,366, while the East Sussex total rose by 16 to 767. The figure for Brighton and Hove increased by two to 484.
