A Hertfordshire police sergeant will appear in court after being charged with one count of sexual activity with a child.
Police officer Michael Grigg, 34, was accused of the offence on April 22 and remains suspended from duty at this time.
He is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, June 24.
The allegation relates to a period of time between 2007 and 2012.
Grigg, who formerly served the Hatfield area, was arrested as part of an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) managed investigation, conducted by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Safeguarding Command.
After being charged in April he was released on conditional bail to appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court.
Police have said that anyone with information that may be relevant to the case can report it online at herts.police.uk/report or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting Op Hurley.
People can also stay anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
