Police are at the scene of a crash on the A1 this evening.
One lane is blocked on the northbound carriageway just past Stirling Corner in Borehamwood.
A Volkswagen Passat has crashed - the left hand side and front of the vehicle has crumpled.
Local officers were seen leaving the scene at around 7.30pm but traffic officers and other police officers remain parked up on the A1.
At the same time, a police helicopter has been circling over the south of Borehamwood, as well as over the scene of the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the crashed Volkswagen are unclear but the helicopter could potentially be searching for the vehicle's occupants.
Traffic is slow going past the scene of the incident on the A1 but traffic is on the whole coping well.
