Police are no longer investigating an incident where two young girls were reportedly asked by a man to get into a car.

Hertfordshire Constabulary had said the two girls, aged 10 and 12, were in Hayling Road, South Oxhey, on Wednesday June 24, around 4pm when a car pulled up near them.

However, the force says an "innocent explanation" has now been accepted following the incident.

Police said that the driver of the car, who approached the girls, was helping a lady whose niece had gone missing and was the same age of the girls who had run off and called police.

Everyone involved has been identified and spoken to, and officers concluded that the incident was no more than an act of "good intent" by the driver.
