A 10-year-old girl has chopped off her beautiful locks in a bid to support children with cancer.

Lily-Maye Wiltshire, of Wallington, has been fundraising to help provide support to Momentum Children's charity.

The 'hair hero' says although her hair will grow back, many children's may not which is why she decided to do her 'Covid shave.'

The 'covid shave' took place on Saturday (July 4 ) which raised an incredible £1,184.38 and £1,435.48 with Gift Aid.

Lily-Maye plans to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust so it can be made into a "beautiful wig for a special little girl to enjoy."

Speaking to Sutton Guardian, Lily-Maye said: "I really like my hair and I feel like it really suits me even if it makes me look like a boy haha!

"I was very shocked to see how much money I had raised but it felt incredible as I did not think I would raise that much money.

"I chose Momentum Children's Charity because they support children and their families and they help change their lives and I wanted to be a part of that."

Lily-Mayes mother, Jessica Rogers said: "When Lily-Maye told me she would like to do such a selfless thing for an amazing charity, I couldn't have been happier!

"She is such an amazing little girl and I could not be prouder to call her my daughter!

"In my eyes she is the perfect role model for all children her age who want to do something special."

The fundraiser will help The Momentum Children's Charity to continue to provide individually-tailored support to families affected by cancer.
