THE community has banded together to raise enough cash for vital marquees for a school in Beaconsfield amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In the space of a few weeks, community volunteers have helped buy four marquees for The Beaconsfield School, which will be vital in helping them cope with social distancing and 15-student bubbles.
One marquee is set to be used as a disinfecting station at the school gates as pupils gradually return.
Cash has so far been raised for four marquees, with help from the Shanly Foundation, Beaconsfield Community Association, Beaconsfield WI, Neleus Masonic Lodge in the town, Beaconsfield Rugby Club and individuals including Dennis and Madeleine Elsey.
Once the coronavirus threat subsides, the marquees will be used for sports, clubs and community events.
School head teacher John Fletcher thanked those who helped, saying that after making visors and PPE for hospitals, shopping for and writing to the shielded and walking their dogs, the generous donation reinforces their “community spirit”.
