Police are investigating a theft at a Tesco store.

At around 5.20pm on June 25 the victim was shopping at the Tesco store on Lower High Street.

Officer said her shopping bags were hanging on the back of her trolley, and when she turned away they had been taken.

They contained her purse, which had her credit card, loyalty cards and medical card in it. The empty bags were later found in the store, but the contents were missing.

Police have now released an image of a woman they would like to identify, as officers believe she may be able to assist with their investigation.

PC Liam Cowing, who is investigating, said : "This was a terrible crime where an elderly, vulnerable victim was targeted.

"Understandably, she has been left distressed at what has happened.

"We have conducted extensive enquiries in our efforts to identify the offender, and are now turning to the public for their help.

"The woman pictured is believed to have been in the area at the time, and could have vital information to assist our investigation.

"If you recognise her, please get in contact.

"Alternatively, if you witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to us, please get in touch."
