A golf club has submitted plans to build a driving range along with its 18-hole golf course which is already under construction on Greenbelt land.

Chiltern Hills Golf Club Ltd has submitted plans to Buckinghamshire Council to build a new driving range and a temporary clubhouse on the land west of Green Street in Chorleywood.

The land is described as being in the Metropolitan Green Belt Land and within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The site has a long planning history dating back to 1998 when conditional permission was granted for the construction of an 18-hole golf course, including a clubhouse together with outbuildings and a car park.

Various revised versions of the golf course has been submitted and in 2019 planning permission was granted for amendments to the design - including a clubhouse which would measure 955 sq metres and 125 car park spaces.

Chiltern Hills has said the construction of the golf course is on-going - so far, nine-holes are nearly completed.

The new plans would see the construction of a golf driving range on the site and green plateau to be used as football playing pitches - including the erection of a temporary clubhouse.

The 350 metre driving range would be positioned on the north of the site with the range building to the east, adjacent to the previously approved car parks. The driving range would be open to the public 364 days per year.

Chiltern Hills has also reached an agreement with Chorleywood Common Youth Football Club and the proposed football pitches would be provided for use by the football club.

A temporary clubhouse would also be provided for use by the football club and it would be 280 sq metres and close to the driving range.

Chiltern Hills has also submitted two separate plans for the east of Green Street - one for 800 homes and the other for 300 homes. Initially, the applicant sought permission for 800 homes but following public consultation, this has been revised to 300.

If Three Rivers District Council was to approve the proposal for 300 homes, Chiltern Hills says it will withdraw its scheme for 800 homes, and has also pledged to not submit any further housing plans on the land for at least a decade.
