A data map has revealed that a neighbourhood in Watford has had more than three positive cases of coronavirus over a week.

Holywell in West Watford was reported to have four positive cases between July 13 to July 19.

But there were positive cases further across Hertfordshire such as in small towns past Stevenage.

The data is provided by Public Health England and looks at cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - a type of statistical unit used in the reporting of small area statistics.

It provides figures for areas which have had three or more positive cases, so some areas not listed below may have had positive cases, but the number falls below three.

The map can be viewed here and by typing in the relevant postcode.

Earlier this month the Observer reported potential coronavirus hotspots in the county using an online tool developed by Oxford University’s Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science.

The tool has a map feature which shows at a ward level the risk of hospitalisation per 1,000 people based on age and hospital capacity. It found that Hertfordshire overall has a rate of 7.5 per 1,000 people, which is average for the UK and broadly in line with neighbouring counties.

But it found areas in Watford, such as the Cassiobury Ward, has an infection rate of 9.2 per 1,000 people. The Tudor Estate and a small area of the Stanborough ward also seemed to be a hotspot, both of which have an infection rate higher than nine.
